Electric guitar, a hard-surface project

This was actually my first real 3D modelling project. The idea was taken from my actual first 3D model in Tinker-cad for a project in middle school. So I decided to take it on and do it properly this time.

I tried to make it as close to the real deal as possible so if you close in on the details you’ll see that even every single screw is exactly where the actual guitar has them.

Building process and details

This video roughly shows the building process of the electric guitar and the progressive addition of details as well as the final steps for texturing.

You can hardly see any difference in the last few images because the main focus were the accuracy of the details, even the position of every single screw.

Breakdown:
some additional renders

Here you can see the process more clearly. I also tried different angles just to appreciate all the features.

Final renders:
Turnaround and renders

This is the final video containing two turnarounds (one with the wireframe and one textured) and different perspective renders.

TAKEAWAY

With this project I discovered how fun modeling creatures can be and learned how to use Substance Painter. I also learned that there’s always something that you can improve in your model.
